Gabriel Dawe [an Ephemeral Rainbow Installation]
Plexus no. 35 is the name of the ephemeral rainbow installation at the Toledo Museum of Art (Ohio, USA). Its author is Gabriel Dawe, a contemporary American artist of Mexican origin.
The large-scale spectacular art-object commissioned by the administration of the cultural institution consists of 1000 multi-colored threads, carefully stretched and fastened on a wooden base.
The spectators are under the illusion that the sun’s rays are refracted in front of them, penetrating through the glass ceiling. The rainbow, frozen in the center of the Great Hall, contrasts visually and simultaneously harmonizes with the surrounding paintings of the old masters.
