Why teacups are particular: the tea tastes higher

This subsequent half in my Why teacups are particular collection is all about tea!

And earlier than I begin sharing my ideas on the topic I have to stress that these are my private preferences and though I’ve excessive requirements for the tea that I put together for myself each day I’m not a tea snob! I’ll very fortunately drink teabag tea in thick-rimmed espresso mugs once I’m out and about.

Okay, the disclaimer is now out of the best way so for the remainder of the article I’m doubtlessly going to be making some outrageously dogmatic statements!

I firmly imagine that tea (and I’m referring to loose-leaf tea at this level) tastes higher in thin-rimmed advantageous china teacups! There are scientific causes – the china is smoother and a thinner rim means the tea will get to the tongue rapidly growing the style.  Wonderful china retains the warmth longer. And… the extra elegant the consuming vessel the higher the style!

For years (ever since I used to be about 15 years previous) I’ve drunk tea out of thin-rimmed tall advantageous china mugs comparable to this Ashdene one. I might use this sort of mug and a small teapot at work too (within the days once I labored full-time as an architect)! And I acutally discovered certainly one of my previous work china mugs (The Maxwell and William one).

However since 2009 (as talked about in my earlier article on Private Reminiscences) I began utilizing a teacup and saucer at house. This leads me to my second assertion…

Tea tastes higher in smaller vessels. A typical teacup has a capability of 200-250 mL (6-8oz) and I feel that the second cup which I pour from my teapot tastes higher than the second half of a tall mug (even when it’s advantageous china!)

This brings up the query of teapots – so this little diagram explains the right association of a teapot in order that the power of the tea stays constant for a number of teacups (assuming that I’m simply making the pot for myself).

And here’s a smaller pot – the one I used for a few years at house and at work.

In fact, a mug is extra handy, so if you’re having a cup of tea (or espresso) whereas doing one thing else as effectively, a mug is an efficient choice… however this thought is resulting in the subject I’ll talk about subsequent week.

Two different private preferences on this subject:

I’m much less fussy about natural tea and may drink it out of advantageous china, china mugs, or thick-rimmed espresso cups/mugs.
I really like consuming espresso out of thick-rimmed cups or mugs. My desire is to drink espresso out of a cup and saucer and I’ve a choice of earthy/textured cups and saucers that make up my ‘espresso cup assortment’. And curiously I don’t actually like consuming espresso out of advantageous china.

Closing ideas …

Sure, this text is just a little geeky – however I do love a superb cuppa! Though I do imagine that tea tastes higher in advantageous china and use my teacups as a lot as potential in my each day life,  if I’m provided a scorching beverage in any type of vessel I’ll drink it!

So do you might have any tea or espresso preferences? Let me know within the feedback beneath.

And one final-final thought – you don’t should be a tea (or a espresso drinker) to do my Teacups course. 🙂
