Claudia Bueno’s new exhibition spills from the façade of the Hermitage Museum & Gardens in Norfolk, Virginia. “Metaphors of the Coronary heart,” an enormous sculpture of wire mesh and colourful gentle, seems to effortlessly take over the mansion in a whirlwind of arteries, tentacles, twisting vines, and blooms. It’s the dynamic showpiece of Claudia Bueno: Echoes of the Coronary heart, which visitors first encounter as they stroll up the driveway of the 1908 property.
Bueno’s first museum exhibition explores the heart-brain connection to advertise togetherness and a way of belonging. The artist’s dedication to therapeutic and inside progress is mirrored in her mystical, immersive environments and in her collaboration with world music healer and musician Poranguí, who helped to create authentic soundscapes for every area.

Guests proceed their journey into Bueno’s “coronary heart” by getting into “Snake Tunnel,” a lined ramp of glowing sculptural scales that Bueno likens to an artery, the place they metaphorically shed and put together for the transition into the museum’s inside. In a second gallery, “Pulsating Coronary heart Portal” builds on the artist’s Meow Wolf Omega Mart sequence with a brand new portal created for the Hermitage. The piece options 10 layers of intricate line drawings on glass that seem to contract and broaden in live performance with exhilarating sound and light-weight. Rooted by the center at its heart, the design recollects symbols discovered all through the exhibition together with blooms, snakes, and arteries.
Within the last area, visitors are invited to pause for reflection and join with their very own hearts. A letter-writing station invitations them to freely compose and add their providing to a “collective coronary heart” on the gallery partitions. The results of this surprising journey is a much-needed pause from the noise of the surface world and a return to our most important, emotional selves.
