Acrylic paints are sold in tubes, plastic and tin cans, but I prefer to use paints in tubes. I like the fact that you can squeeze out the right amount of paint, besides, for those who have painted in oil before, it will be more familiar. You can get almost all the colors that are available in other painting techniques by mixing paints. Still, you MUST be prepared to buy any additional paints you may need.

HOW TO KEEP COLORS WET. Acrylic paints dry quickly, so I came up with a “self-moistening palette” to keep the paints moist as I worked. I took a standard plastic paint container and cut a piece of Plexiglas to fit. Then I poured water into the container and put a thin piece of sponge in each corner. Next I wet a piece of white cotton cloth (here it acts as an absorbent) and put it on the Plexiglas, squeezed the paint on the cloth and put the piece of Plexiglas on the pieces of sponges. The sponge, staying wet for a long time, keeps the container moist.
